The New York State Recreation and Park Society is pleased to announce this year's 23rd Annual Downstate Conference. This greatly anticipated one-day event features 25 speakers and over 30 exhibitors specializing in parks, recreation and therapeutic recreation.

The Downstate Conference is a collaborative effort by NYSRPS and our NY Affiliates: Westchester Recreation and Park Society (WRAPS), Hudson Valley Leisure Services Associates (HVLSA), METRO, and the New York State Therapeutic Recreation Association (NYSTRA).

The Downstate Conference Committee is pleased to announce this year's theme (and challenge):
BE EXTRAordinary!

Inspired by Seth Godin's book Purple Cow that "urges you to put a Purple Cow into everything you build, and everything you do, to create something truly noticeable."
  • Do you have what it takes to be the Purple Cow in the field of cows?
  • Does your agency, programs, parks, and staff STAND OUT or do you just blend in?
  • Is your agency unique, exceptional, & unforgettable - like a Purple Cow - or are you just your basic black or brown steer?
